It can be painful when someone challenges us to break out of a negative behaviour pattern. Our family, parents, friends or partner may have implored us to end unhealthy habits, such as being lazy, cheating, gossiping, sleeping around, being stubborn, being late, being ungrateful, over-eating, smoking, drinking or excessive crying. It is understandable that many may perceive us as being arrogant in our failure to make the necessary changes. However, by actively taking steps in working towards eliminating these behaviours, we can demonstrate that we are willing to challenge ourselves and work hard to achieve our goals.
It can be difficult to stop some behaviours, particularly when there is a lack of external support. However, it is even more challenging when others expect you to stop and hold you to an elevated standard of responsibility. In order to cease actions, it is important to think deeply on why this action needs to end. Discover your purpose and make it so large that you are left without an alternative other than to be successful in stopping. Comprehend why there is a necessity to halt and why it is essential to others.
Once you have identified why you must stop your habits and behaviours, you can then determine when it is appropriate to actually stop them. Setting a timeline for stopping the behaviours and habits that hold you back is a practical way to not only commit to following through, but also meaningful time to adjust your lifestyle and thought process to make the necessary changes to defy the negative mentality that says it can’t be done. Doing this does not magically happen; rather it requires effort and acknowledgement.
Understanding when to STOP is essential to achieving success. Recognizing your limitations and being patient with yourself is the key. Gradually reducing speed before actually stop is necessary, as abruptly coming to a standstill can be disorienting for both you and those around you who might be relying on your progress. Looking after your wellbeing will ensure that you are able to safely continue your journey towards success.
You have the power to control your own destiny, and no one is better suited to decide what your next step should be than you. Imagine what you could become if you were to break away from what your comfort zone, and allow yourself to explore new possibilities? Should you require assistance, I am here to support you in in this process.
